I do love an alien conspiracy theory now and then and this book ticked a lot of those boxes. It's been a few years since I've read this, so will need to refresh my memory but the 'reverse engineering' of the technology from the space ships included: fiber optics, integrated circuit chips, and lasers. Bruh.
