The Palestine-Israeli Conflict

The Palestine-Israeli Conflict

Dan Cohn-Sherbok, Dawoud El-Alami

Prior to reading this book my knowledge of the Israel-Palestine conflict was limited to Vox YouTube videos and the occasional documentary. The book covers the origin of the conflict, the birth of Zionism and how the British Empire (causing trouble again) had promised Palestine (land that wasn't theirs?) to mutliple people in order to gain support for various wars. The book is split into three parts, a Israeli perspective, a Palestinian perspective and a debate section at the end. Would have been interested in a longer debate section as it was only 30 pages long. Some insightful arguments were made and it would have been good to expand on these. Key takeaway is better understanding of the motives of both sides and inevitably sympathy for the victims as both sides have resorted to attacking the other on numerous occasions throughout the conflict.
