Fallen Idols

Fallen Idols

Alex Von Tunzelmann

Short book full of interesting tidbits and facts, underlining with a theme of it's good to take down statues that glorify people in the past that have done horrific things. My opinion on the issue of bringing down statues varies on the statue in question. Most examples in the book deserved to be taken down, I still believe that the majority of statues should be taken down and not torn down but tearing down statues is an expression of free speech (i.e when the US gained independence from the UK, they tore down a statue of King George III) and it brings attention to the problems that the statues represent, so maybe pulling down a statue or two every now and again is actually a good thing.
